影片引起人的思索超過影片本身。

說實話，我真心不喜歡裡面伯恩賽德這個辯護律師，虛榮，專業的保守分子，不過他最後也算醒悟了。

影片結局就主人公的結果有些悲涼、悲壯，但是這段台詞才是最重要的。


大法官先生，請允許我開始描述，1972在Bradsbury Hayes正是在這個法庭上，規定了記者們不享有在大陪審團面前隱匿資訊來源的權利，並且賦予政府權力來拘留那些隱匿資訊來源的人，當時是5票贊成4票反對通過的，相當的接近的投票。

Mrs. Armstrong could have buckled to the demands of the Government-she could've abandoned her promise of confidentiality. She could've simply gone home to her family. But to do so, would mean that no source would ever speak to her again, and no source would ever speak to her newspaper again. And then tomorrow when we lock up journalists from other newspapers we'll make those publications irrelevant as well, and thus we'll make the First Amendment irrelevant. And then how will we know if a President has covered up crimes or if an army officer has condoned torture? We as a nation will no longer be able to hold those in power accountable to those whom they have power over-and what then is the nature of Government when it has no fear of accountability? We should shutter at the thought. Imprisoning journalists-that's for other countries, that's for countries who fear their citizens, not countries that cherish and protect them. Some time ago, I began to feel the personal, human pressure on Rachel Armstrong and I told her that I was there to represent her and not her principle. And it was not until I met her that I realized that with great people there's no difference between principle and the person.

　認真看完了所有的回帖，說到看懂與否，恐怕只能在電影情節這個層面上來說，至於導演、編劇所要表

達的東西，只能說老北提到的「一千個讀者就有一千個哈姆雷特」很有道理。
　　
　　個人認為，在情節上來說：
　　1、original source就是alison, erica的女兒，她在校車上與rachel對話時說出自己的母親是CIA特

工，並且去委內瑞拉是出於工作的目的；corroborating source是一個FBI的傢伙，是她/他給了一份

erica報告的複印件（電影裡，報社律師說出來的），而且我注意到報社律師在提到corroborating

source時使用的是單數，那應該可以推斷報社所知道的corroborating source只有FBI里提供報告複印件

的那個人，報社是不知道前白宮官員的。
　　
　　2、特別檢察官自始自終想知道的是誰洩漏了erica的CIA秘密特工身份，因為這種行為被視為一種叛

國行為，也嚴重威脅國家安全(national security)。這也是為什麼前白宮官員站出來之後，特別檢察官

仍然沒放棄的原因，因為前白宮官員充其量只是rachel的corroborating source之一，他在party上的酒

後言辭幫助rachel確認了erica的CIA特工身份，而不是洩漏(reveal)erica的CIA特工身份的origional

　　3、按理說，alison年幼，就算rachel說出來，她應該不會受到法律制裁，所以我認為，rachel一開

始的堅持，是堅持記者保護線人的原則(rachel agreed to complete confidentiality)，當erica被右翼

分子槍殺後，她的堅持就多了一種情感上的意義，這一點我是贊同樓主的觀點的「你試想一下如果大使女

兒知道正是自己的「告密」才使得自己母親被害，她將會如何的在成長過程中面對自己的這個錯誤，她必

將會在巨大的陰影中度過自己的一生。。。。」
　　 rachel在片中的原話是：My source will be publicly saddled with the death of 艾瑞克a Van

Doren,and that, I promise you, will mean the destruction of the person we're talking about,

and that, Albert, that is not fair.
　　
　　4、rachel最終獲刑兩年，是因為從法律上來講，rachel是有罪的，當法官問她original source，她

在法律上（保護情報人員法）必須回答，不回答就犯了藐視法庭罪(criminal contempt of court)。她接

受特別檢察官的提議，接受減刑至兩年，而不是上法庭受審(go to trial),那樣可能要坐牢很長時間，特

別檢察官「威脅」她恐怕得等到她兒子上高中才能出來。似乎特別檢察官在doing his job時，也是有人

性的。
　　
　　這部片子看的讓我在情感上很壓抑，因為導演展示了很多視角，每個視角都是truth，讓我沒有辦法

選擇立場，正如上面幾位兄台提到的，作為個人能做到的是不麻木、不片面、多思考。
